Frequently Asked Questions About Academic Writing Coaching 

You and I meet online through video conferencing for academic writing tutoring.  We will focus on academic writing, research skills, and other college skills.  Also, I will help you with your writing projects and guide you through every phase of the writing process.  If you want to see a video of how tutoring works check out the tutoring page.  

Tutoring hours are:

Monday—Wednesday tutoring hours are: 11:00 am—3:00 pm and  4:00 pm–7:00 pm Eastern Time, USA

Thursday tutoring hours are: 10:00 am—6:00 pm Eastern Time, USA

Friday tutoring hours are from 11:00 am–2:00 pm Eastern Time, USA 

As an academic writing coach with 20 years of teaching experience, I can individualize lessons to each student’s exact goals and needs.  I am not an educator who uses a cookie-cutter curriculum to teach writing.  If you want that specialized attention and would like to hire me, my hourly rate is $100 per session.  

Google Classroom is a place where students and teachers can communicate with each other, send and review assignments, and collaborate on writing and projects.  You can post any of your writing or ask questions in Google Classroom.  You can also find readings, resources and web links posted there.

You don’t need to have a Google account. You will only need to go to https://classroom.google.com, enter as a student, and then type in the class code I will send you.

If,  you need to miss a tutoring session; you will need to cancel 24 hours before our scheduled time.  Otherwise, you will be charged for that tutoring session.  I do allow you to have an exception to this rule if there is an important emergency.

I really believe the best way to help you become a better writer is by working individually with you.  Tutoring online is a great way for me to make my lessons geared specifically to you. I focus on what you need and want to learn about academic writing.  Also, there are many online writing and research resources we can use in tutoring sessions.  Plus, I can tutor students from anywhere in the world!

Yes! I am an eco-friendly tutoring business.  I am a business sponsor of the environmental nonprofit One Tree Planted https://onetreeplanted.org/.  One Tree Planted funds tree-planting initiatives worldwide—Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin America,  North America, and the Pacific.  For every dollar they raise, they plant one tree.  As part of my mission to be a green tutor, I donate one dollar to plant one tree per tutoring session.  Through One Tree Planted,  I am supporting tree planting in Columbia.  Sustinere Global  https://sustinere-global.com/leads the reforestation project in Columbia.  They will help restore the forest area in Choco, Columbia.  My goal is to plant 200 trees in Columbia by December 31st, 2021.

Everything I create is paperless, whether it’s materials for a class, or tools, checklists, and guides I create for this website.  I create editable PDFs, so you never have to print something out.  My website is green too.  I have the Green Web Foundation Badge on the footer of my website.  The badge is for businesses who use a Green Host to host their website.   You can learn about the Green Web Foundation and (check my website for yourself) at https://www.thegreenwebfoundation.org/.
