How does online academic writing tutoring work?
You and I meet online through video conferencing, and we have a 1-hour tutoring session. We will focus on academic writing, research skills, and other college skills. Also, I will help you with your writing projects and guide you through every phase of the writing process.
How do I sign-up for online tutoring?
There are three steps to deciding if you want sign-up for online academic writing tutoring sessions: contact, consultation, and free trial lesson.
- Contact me via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by filling in the contact form online. When I reply to you we will set up a 15-20 minute online consultation. At the consultation, we’ll discuss your writing goals, and the help you want to receive.
- Decide if you want to have a free trial lesson. If you want to sign-up for a free online tutoring lesson we will make an appointment.
- Meet me for a 30-minute tutoring session where I teach a short writing lesson and assess your writing skills. Then you can decide if you want to sign up for online academic writing tutoring.
What are the hours for academic writing tutoring sessions?
The times available are:
Monday—Wednesday tutoring hours are: 9:00 am—12:00 pm and 2:00 pm –8:00 pm Eastern Time, USA
Thursday tutoring hours are: 9:00am–1:00 pm 3:00pm—7:00pm & office hours are 7:00pm—8:00pm Eastern Time, USA
Friday office hours are: 11:00am—12:00am Eastern Time, USA
What other help can I get outside of online lessons?
You can contact me and post your written work in your personal Google Classroom. I will check this every day to see if you have questions or if you have work you want me to review. I will post any links or resources I think will be helpful to you in your classroom, so you can access them anytime.

How much does online academic writing tutoring cost?
I charge $50 per session.
What is Google Classroom? Do I need to have a Google Account?
Google Classroom is a place where students and teachers can communicate with each other, send and review assignments, and collaborate on writing and projects. You can post any of your writing or ask questions in Google Classroom. You can also find readings, resources and web links posted there.
You don’t need to have a Google account. You will only need to go to https://classroom.google.com, enter as a student, and then type in the class code I will send you.
What if I need to cancel an online tutoring session?
If you need to miss a tutoring session, you will need to cancel 24 hours before our scheduled time. Otherwise, you will be charged for that tutoring session. I do allow for you to have an exception to this rule if there is an important emergency.
Why do you tutor academic writing online?
I really believe the best way to help you become a better writer is by working individually with you. Tutoring online is a great way for me to make my lessons geared specifically to you. I focus on what you need and want to learn about academic writing. Also, there are many online writing and research resources we can use in tutoring sessions. Plus, I can tutor students from anywhere in the world!
